Branch South Vardar - Gevgelija

Short description of the activity of the hydro-system of AD Water management Branch South Vardar Gevgelija

The area of activity of AD Water Management Republic of Macedonia, Branch South Vardar is a geographical area that includes areas and users from the municipalities: Gevgelija, Bogdanci and Valandovo.
In the subsidiary South Vardar Gevgelija the main activity is irrigation, and it is implemented in accordance with the annual plan for maintenance and exploitation of hydro-meliorative systems.

Irrigation in the Water Sector South Vardar Gevgelija is organized through the hydro-melioration systems:
1. HMS Konska river
2. HMS Paljurci
3. HMS Valandovo

Irrigation water is provided from several sources:
- natural watercourses: Horse River
- by catching the waters from the river Vardar by pumping
- accumulation: Paljurci.

HMS Gevgelisko Pole

This HMS has provided irrigation water to be provided from several sources:
- natural watercourses with capture through the Tyrolean grip, and then through open and earthen channels are brought to the irrigation surfaces.
- by catching the waters from the river Vardar by pumping.
- small accumulations: Bogorodica, Toplik, Toplik Dos.

At the moment, irrigation occurs only through HMS Konska River 1, built in 1958, with the capture of the water from the Konska River through tyrolean grip, and after gravitation, it is poured into a water supply and in the main channel with a capacity of 330 l/sec.

HMS Paljurci

In the area of HMS Paljurci are the Paljurci dam of the year of construction 1977. with a total volume of 3,500,000 m3 accumulation on the Luda Mara River and an underground network for irrigation of various profiles and materials on a cement plant for about 850 ha of surface which is practically impossible to irrigate. Reserve accumulation Chinarli has been disfunctional since 2004.

This HMS irrigates the area in the vicinity of Bogdanci, Stojakovo and Gjavato.

HMS Udovo-Valandovo Field

The source of water for irrigation of this HMS is river Vardar. For this purpose, an intake has been constructed from where, through the accessible covered canal of 300m, the water is transported to the pump station Udovo. Water from the pump station is pumped into the main concrete channel with a length of 10 km and capacity 2500 l/s.

In the composition of HMS Udovsko-Valandovo field are the following objects:
- a busy facility with a covered canal of 300m
- the main pump station Udovo
- main concrete channel 10 km
- 8 secondary pumping stations
- channel network of 181 km

Depending on the way of bringing the water, HMS Udovsko-Valandovo field is divided by three subsystems:

- Subsystem Udovo 1
- Subsystem Udovo 2
- Subsystem of the Valandovo field

- Arazlika subsystem
- System Chaparica
