Subsidiary Bregalnica Kocani

HIDROMELIORATIVE SYSTEM BREGALNICA

The main activity of the Branch Bregalnica - Kocani is the use, operation, maintenance and control of the water supply systems in the area of activity, water supply for irrigation of agricultural land, water supply to utility companies for water supply, water supply for water for consumption by man (drinking water and other needs), water supply for industrial and technological (commercial) needs including water supply for electricity generation and drainage of the land.

BASIC INFORMATION

The hydro-melioration system Bregalnica covers the net of 28.000 ha arable land and is located in the basin of the river Bregalnica. The basin of the river Bregalnica has an area of 4300 km2 and covers the eastern part of the Republic of Macedonia, or 16.75% of its total area. The basin extends from the left side of the river Vardar with borders, from the east with the state border with the Republic of Bulgaria, which includes the waterfalls of Vlainska and Osogovo mountains, whose peaks are from 1200 to 1800 meters high, from the north with the hills of the Osogovo Mountains and the tops of the hills on the sides of the Ovche Field, with which this water basin separates the basin of the river Bregalnica from the confluence of the Pchinja River, and from the south with the peaks of the Plachkovica Mountain with 1200 to 1625 meters above sea level.

SURFACE OF HMS BREGALNICA

The total area in the Bregalnica basin, downstream of the village Istibanje, which is suitable for irrigation, amounts to 53,056 ha gross or net 49,302 ha. The boundary of the Bregalnica system covers an area of 34,160 ha, of which 4,368 ha belongs to the Hedge Hill, the river bed of the river Bregalnica, the villages, the main road Kocani - Veles and more. The gross area in the irrigation system is 29,792 ha gross or 28,111 ha net area.

BASIC HYDRO-LOGICAL ELEMENTS

The hydro-melioration system Bregalnica solves the problem of irrigation, drainage, prevention of erosion and regulation of river beds in the middle and lower flow of the river basin of the river Bregalnica. In addition to the water from the river Bregalnica, the flowing waters from the rivers Orizarska, Kochanska and Zletovska are also used in the vegetative period.

The hydro-melioration system Bregalnica consists of:

-The Kalimanci dam
-The Istibanje grip
-The right main channel
-The left main channel
-The detailed channel irrigation network.

KALIMANCI DAM

The Kalimanci Dam was built on the river Bregalnica in the Delchevo-Kochanska ravine, about 23 km northeast of Kochani towards Kamenica. It accumulates the waters from the rivers Bregalnica and Kamenichka River. Kalimanci Dam is a rocky dam with a clay core.

The basic parameters of the dam are:

- The height is 92 meters,
- The length of the crown is 232 meters,
- The crown of the dam is 519.5 m.m.,
The downstream part of the dam is a hydroelectric plant in which the accumulated waters are used for the production of electricity that operates under the irrigation regime. Its installed power is 12.8 MW.

SHOOTING EVENTS

From the dam Kalimanci the water flows about 15 km along the river bed of the river Bregalnica until the Istibanja capture. The grab is a concrete gravity dam with a height of 8m (Figures 4,5,6). On both sides of the capture there are steel lockers, which in fact represent the beginning of the Right and Left Main Channels of the Irrigation System.

MAIN CHANNELS

The right and left main canal are designed and built to allow the water from the grasp to reach the end points of the irrigation field as soon as possible. The maximum flow of water in the right-hand trunk is 12.8 m3/s, and on the left main channel it is 6.0 m3/s. Out of a total of 28,111 ha net area affected by the system, a total of 22,252 ha should be irrigated from the right-hand channel, while 3,047 ha should be irrigated from the left main channel.

The specific terrain conditions, as well as the climatic, pedological and topographic conditions, the presence of rice as the basic culture, required different treatment of the channel network in relation to the irrigation method. From the very beginning, two types of irrigation canals were identified:

- Network of open channels for irrigation of rice surfaces and
- A network of open or pipelines for irrigation of other crops.

The secondary and tertiary network in Kochansko pole is an open channel network consisting of canals and earthen canals with a total length of 680 km and irrigation of approximately 800 ha of agricultural land with 19.3 km of pipelines.

To create pressure in the network for irrigation with artificial rain on the subsystems Ovche Pole III, IV and V and on the Shtip field on the left side of the river Bregalnica, 8 pumping stations have been built.

On the river Bregalnica, on the part of Istibanja to Shtip, three rubber dams were built:

- The rubber dam of Grdovci, located above the bridge on the road to Zrnovci in the river Bregalnica.
- The rubber dam Chiflik
- The rubber dam Karbinci, located above the village of Balvan in the river Bregalnica.

GRACETCHE DAM

Besides the mentioned facilities, the dam Gratche built on the Kochanska River is located in the system, 5 km north of Kochani.

The accumulation is a length of 2.1 km, 0.35 km wide, an area of 0.19 km2,
Stop the accumulation to the elevation level of 2,400,000 m3 of water
Stop the accumulation to the elevation level of 2,150,000 m3 of water.
Water from the dam is used for irrigation of agricultural areas in Kochansko polje, Gorni Podlog, Dolni Podlog, Mojanci and Obleshevo.

MAVROVITSA DAM

In addition to the listed facilities, Branch Bregalnica Kochani also manages the dam Mavrovica.

The "Mavrovica" dam is built on the Mavrovica River, about 7 km upstream from Sveti Nikole. The dam is built in order to create an accumulation for the water supply of Sveti Nikole.

The dam "Mavrovica" is derived from unicorn material - clay, with a drainage wall.

- The height is 25 m,
- The length of the crown is 360 m
- The width of the crown is 6 m

PISHICA DAM

Branch Bregalnica Kocani also manages the Pishica dam (Figure 19). The Pishica dam has a capacity of 780,000 m3 and is intended for supplying water for irrigation of agricultural land on the right side of the river Zletovska in the villages of Gujnovci, Pisicha and Ziganci. Excess water is discharged into Zletovska river.

Basic elements of the dam:

The height of the dam from the river terrace is 22 m
The length of the crown is 319 m
The width of the crown is 6 m

REGULATION OF THE RIVERS AND DISTRIBUTION

The entire system is small, the percentage of areas with high groundwater, which must be drained. Such surfaces exist in the Ovche Pole III subsystem, along the Azmak River and Nemashnica River. Therefore, regulation of the riverbed of the Azmak river and the inlet section of the river Nemashnica, Vinica and Gradecka and Zletovska river was carried out.

WATER SUPPLY FOR INDUSTRIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL NEEDS

Subsidiary Bregalnica Kochani supplies water for industrial and technological (commercial) needs of the following industrial facilities:

- ROOF INOX AUTOMOBILE LLC
- DID Tabernakul Cvetan DOO import-export
- PEJPAR MIL DOO KOCHANI
